Due to a promotion within the English department, a truly fantastic opportunity has arisen for a qualified English Teacher to join our partner Catholic secondary school located within the Wigan borough. This position is to start from September 2018 and there is a possibility of a fixed-term contract being offered to the right candidate:

• Full time English teaching position
• Roman Catholic School graded Outstanding
• Teaching English to both KS3 to KS4
• Located on the outskirts of Wigan close to the town centre
• Pay in line with MPS/UPS dependant on experience (£22,917- £38,633)
• Both newly qualified and experienced teachers encouraged to apply

This role is ideal for any English teacher who is looking to secure a position in a school with an outstanding reputation where the pupil behaviour is described as excellent. The school holds a strong Catholic ethos, and although it is not essential that you are Catholic to be considered for this position, applicants must be sensitive to the beliefs of the pupils and staff.

Further, it is one of the highest performing schools within the local area. They have a large English department made up of dedicated teachers who consistently achieve results above the national average. The Head of English is an experienced teacher who has high expectations of both staff and pupils. The successful applicant must be fully committed to taking on full teaching responsibilities such as planning, marking and attending termly parents' evenings.

It is a large mixed comprehensive school currently catering for over 970 pupils. Almost all of the pupils who attend the school are from White British backgrounds. Pupils who speak English as an Additional Language is significantly below the national average. It is located on the outskirts of Wigan town centre but is very close to both the M6 motorway and the East Lancashire Road. This offers excellent accessibility to both the Liverpool and Manchester boroughs.
