Job description

Due to a member of the English department going on maternity our client secondary school in Rochdale is currently seeking a teacher of English to join their department on a full time basis. This position will be starting from Easter with the opportunity to start earlier if needed & will continue until the end of the academic year.

  • Full time English teacher position, starting in April
  • Earn in line with teaching scale point (up to £38,633 per annum)
  • Work in an Ofsted Graded good secondary school
  • Modern building with excellent provision and facilities

Situated in a semi-rural setting close to Littleborough, Rochdale the school is easily accessible from the M60 & M62 and for non drivers there is a train station and bus links a short walk from the school. In recent years, the Head Teacher and Senior Leadership team have restructured their behaviour management policies and standards of teaching which has led to an improvement in teaching, behaviour and the overall outcomes of the students. The school has an excellent reputation within the local community with the majority of students coming from the surrounding areas and being of White British Heritage.

The incoming English teacher will:

  • Have UK QTS specialising in English
  • Have experience teaching English language and literature up to GCSE
  • Liaise with the Head of English on the progress and performance of all students
  • Develop interactive and innovative lessons to engage the students
  • Provide intervention session to students who have not met minimum levels of attainment

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
