English Teacher

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced English Teacher to join our educational institution located in South East England, specifically Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes. This position is offered on a supply contract basis, with full-time hours expected.

As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality English language instruction to students. Your primary focus will be on teaching English language skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening. You will create engaging lesson plans, deliver interactive classroom sessions, and assess students' progress. It is crucial to maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment to foster students' development and enthusiasm for the English language.

Job Duties:

  • Plan and deliver effective English language lessons, ensuring adherence to the curriculum guidelines.
  • Create engaging and interactive learning materials to support students' language development.
  • Facilitate classroom discussions and activities that promote effective communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Assess students' language proficiency and provide constructive feedback to support their progress.
  • Implement appropriate teaching strategies and techniques to cater to students' diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Maintain accurate records of students' attendance, grades, and performance.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and improve the English language curriculum.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and professional development activities.
  • Establish and maintain open communication with students, parents, and school staff.

Required Qualifications:

  • A recognised degree or equivalent qualification in English or a related field.
  • A teaching qualification, such as a PGCE or QTS.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching English as a second language, preferably in a classroom setting.
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage a classroom and create a positive learning environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Additional qualifications or certifications in teaching English as a second language.
  • Familiarity with technology and its integration into the classroom.
