Teaching Personnel are working closely with a successful and popular, 11-16 school on the outskirts of Birmingham..

This is an exciting opportunity for a well-qualified teacher to join a thriving, comprehensive secondary school on a full time basis.

The role will include teaching English across key stage 3 and 4. Successful educators will also be taking on full departmental responsibilities, including lesson planning and marking.

As well as being an excellent subject teacher, the successful applicant will be well-read, able to articulate their passion for the subject and eager to contribute to the extracurricular work of the department and wider life of the academy.

English is a thriving and successful subject area, and the successful candidate will play an important role in helping to move English into its next stage of development.

What are we looking for?

  • Confidence, enthusiasm, and a passion for teaching English Language and English Literature
  • Capable of planning for students from a variety of backgrounds and abilities, and inspiring them to reach their full potential
  • A knowledge and understanding of a range of teaching, learning and behaviour management strategies and know how to use and adapt them to motivate students
  • A track record of positive impact upon student outcomes
  • Excellent subject knowledge
  • Commitment to sharing best practice with colleagues in the department. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

 The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience of delivering English Literature and/or English Language GCSE
  • Suitable school-based references
  • Have and up to date DBS with the Update Service/be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS
  • A willingness to undertake CPD and contribute to the wider school life
  • Be educated to degree level
  • Hold QTS (or an equivalent qualification)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
