Our client secondary school is looking to take on an English teacher to join their English department in January. The successful English teacher will be teaching up to GCSE level, year 7 – 10 in the main across both English Language and Literature. The school follows the AQA syllabus so any experience of this curriculum is desirable but not essential.
The school have been very open about their willingness to take on a newly qualified teacher as well as a more experienced teacher with no preference over either. The English teacher who takes up this position will be required for the remainder of the academic year until 17th July as the school are looking to advertise for a permanent member of the English department over the summer break 2020.
Whilst this school is not a challenging school, they are keen to employ an effective English teacher who can exercise strong behaviour management strategies in the classroom. The successfully appointed English teacher should therefore be comfortable at commanding the classroom and able to engage with students of all backgrounds, abilities and cultures given the diverse community which this secondary school serves.
Highlights of this English teaching position:
- Pay will be dependent upon experience but at a comparative level up to MPS6: GBP24,373 - GBP35,971
- Teach English Literature and Language to year 7 – 10 students
- Full time teaching position starting on Monday 6th January – Friday 17th July
- Opportunity to support in providing Literacy intervention depending upon personal experience
As the successful English teacher is required for the time period of January – July, this covers the period over the GCSE examinations. Therefore any relevant experience of providing intervention for the GCSE examinations is highly desirable given the possibility of this. As a result, the school are looking for an English teacher that is looking to fully immerse themselves within the school environment and take on additional responsibility. This is an excellent opportunity to teach at this supportive secondary school for 2 terms in the first instance.
This secondary school is situated in the south area of Manchester near to the M60 ring road and M56 motorway network. It is therefore easy to drive to from any of the local areas in Manchester aswell as further afield areas of Warrington, Trafford and Cheshire East. For those English teachers that travel by public transport, the school is on the metrolink line.
