The School:

My client was rated “outstanding” in its last Ofsted inspection in 2016. It is a vibrant, exciting secondary school located in West Sussex. The Sixth Form was also rated Outstanding’ by Ofsted. It is one of the largest ‘in a school’ in the South of England – and a highly successful A Level specialist provider, with a 98% overall pass rate for A level students (100% pass rate in 30 subjects). Over 70% of Sixth Formers go on to University, and another 10% to Foundation Colleges as a step towards University.

The Role:

The main aims of the English department are:

1. To encourage pupils to develop a lasting interest in language and literature

2. To help pupils achieve a technical competence in reading and writing.

3. To encourage reading for pleasure.

4. To help pupils develop, and learn to adapt, their written and spoken communication skills

5. To prepare pupils thoroughly for public examinations.

6. To make a contribution to a pupils overall cultural and personal development.
