Job description

English teacher required from September.

Due to a long-term sickness, our client secondary school based in Leigh are recruiting an English teacher to join them on their return from the summer holidays.

The school wish to appoint an English teacher who has recent experience teaching English at GCSE level to students in a secondary school setting.

  • English teaching required.
  • Employment for the full the end of the academic year with a view to contract extension dependant on your performance during this temporary period
  • Pay in line with your direct pay scale.
  • Teaching a complete English timetable which will consist of complete planning and marking responsibilities

To be considered for this English teaching role it is crucial that you are passionate about English and are able to transfer this passion into your day to day teaching practice in order to create enthusiasm for the subject amongst your pupils. You will be teaching classes of students that are split by ability  and must be able to cater for the needs of each of your classes no matter what their ability, being able to stretch the learning of your pupils will be hugely advantageous.

The English department within our client secondary is currently made up from 9 English Teachers and has one dedicated learning support assistant. The school is a supportive secondary school and you will be able to lean on your fellow colleagues for support if needed.

  • Is slightly smaller than the average sized secondary with around 700 pupils on roll.
  • Holds an excellent reputation within its local community.
  • Is located on the outskirts of Leigh town centre making it accessible for those on public transport also.
  • It is easily accessible from both the surrounding areas of Bolton and Wigan respectively via the A579.
