Job description

Teacher of English required for Easter start at well regarded secondary school in Rochdale.

Due to a gap in the department from Easter, our client secondary school are looking for a skilled English teacher to join them from Easter with a view to continuing into next academic year on a permanent basis.

- Full time English teaching position

- Well established secondary school with good standing in community

- Excellent facilities in new build school setting

- Excellent support in place, along with access to development opportunities

- Earn in line with teaching scale point (up to £39,406 per annum)

- Situated in Rochdale, with good accessibility to Bury and Manchester

Our client is slightly larger than most secondary schools, with just over 1000 children aged 11-16 current on roll, though this number is set to extend by almost half when the school extends and increases their intake in upcoming years, which has been made possible by excellent results and the demand for places increasing. The school has gone from strength to strength in recent years, which can be accredited to a positive action plan put in place by leadership.

"We've got an initial temporary gap from Easter but would like to appoint someone looking for their next permanent post due to the nature of the cover. We would expect the incoming English teacher to take on a full timetable and deliver English mainly at Key Stage 3 until July, along with planning and marking schemes of work. In turn, we would provide bespoke support to the incoming teacher along with career progression opportunities down the line for those looking at their next steps."

To be considered for this position as an English teacher you will need;

- PGCE or relevant teaching based qualification specialising in English

- Previous experience leading English lessons across the secondary age range to an array of abilities

- A firm approach to classroom management and the ability to ensure students are focused
