Job description

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting an English teacher on behalf of our client school located in Wigan ahead of September 2018.

With a member of the English department due to go on maternity leave prior to the summer, this rapidly improving 11-16 mixed comprehensive secondary school wish to appoint a temporary English teacher.

  • Full time English teacher required - September 2018 (Earlier start date available)
  • Temporary contract (12 months) covering maternity leave
  • Located on the border of Wigan and Leigh - Easily accessible from the East Lancashire road
  • Pay in line with MPS/UPS dependant on experience (£22,917 - £38,633)

"We have a need within our English department for a temporary English teacher ahead of the new academic year to cover a maternity leave. The successful applicant will be joining a well structured and managed department in which you will receive full support from an experienced head of department. Our English department consistently achieve results above the national average and a high proportion of pupils achieve expected progress" Deputy Headteacher.

This is a great opportunity for any English teachers looking to secure a temporary post within a well managed school which continues to make rapid improvements. The incoming English teacher will be required to take on full teaching responsibilities including; marking, planning and attending termly parent's evenings.

English teachers wishing to be considered for this opportunity must be able to;

  • Deliver engaging lessons to pupils of all abilities across KS3 and GCSE
  • Consistently provide good/outstanding practice and show evidence of achieving excellent results
  • Stretch the learning of all pupils and ensure they reach above and beyond their expected grades

  • Found on the outskirts of the Wigan LEA, this school is located on the outskirts of Leigh town centre and is easily accessible from the surrounding areas; Wigan, Salford, Bolton and Manchester via the East Lancashire road. The majority of pupils on roll (950) are of white british heritage, there are a average amount of EAL pupils on roll and those who are eligible for free school meals.
