English Teacher - Bolton

Teacher of English required from October 2018, for an 'Outstanding' Bolton based Academy, from October 2018, till the end of the academic year, initially on temporary supply basis with the potential to progress on to a fixed long term contract.

Due to a resignation for a relocating teacher within the faculty, the Academy seek to appoint an optimistic, enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of English as well as an excellent communicator who is resilient and tenacious in all aspects of their teaching practice.

  • Must hold QTS - both newly qualified teachers and experienced teachers are welcome to apply.
  • Have prior experience teaching the National Curriculum at GCSE; this is preferred but not essential.
  • Possess a creative and passionate approach both in and out of the classroom, to engage and inspire all young people.

Rated 'Outstanding' Ofsted, consistently over the last few years, this smaller than average Academy wish to welcome an innovative practitioner to join their close-knit, supportive and friendly team who work extremely hard to ensure that all students get the best provision possible.

As the incoming Teacher of English you will be;

  • Following the AQA syllabus at GCSE for both English Language and English Literature. At Key Stage 3 pupils are prepared for the demand of the GCSE course.
  • Delivering lessons designed to foster a passionate of the subject and develop skills pupils require to progress.
  • Working with young people, planning, preparing and marking classwork, taking on full responsibilities, as expected by Senior Leadership Teams.
  • Manage behaviour in accordance to school behaviour policies taking appropriate action where applicable.

This outstanding academy is based in the Farnworth region of Bolton, bordering with neighbouring Bury, it has been noted for its approach to the delivery of outstanding teaching and learning which are shared amongst all their practitioners. With just under 500 pupils on roll, aged 11-16, it has provided the foundation for inventive teaching to all its pupils throughout the years.

"Attainment and progress, overall, have been on an upward trend with most students making good progress, including in English and mathematics and most able students receiving increasing challenge to achieve the highest GCSE grades. The closing of performance gaps between different groups of students is a very strong strand in the academy's work." - Ofsted.

The Academy is perfectly situated to be accessible via the M61 and the surrounding areas; Bury, Wigan, Salford and Chorley. Public transport links are also easily accessible, with the Bus and Train station a few miles away from the Academy.
