Are you a recent English Graduate wishing to pursue a career in Secondary teaching in the future?

Do you wish to gain experience working within a Bury based Secondary school prior to completing a teacher training programme?

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a mixed comprehensive Secondary school towards the north of Bury town centre who wish to appoint a full time English Graduate from September 2018 for the full academic year.

  • Full time English Graduate required, September 2018 start.
  • Working within the English department for one academic year.
  • Earn up to £1200 per month whilst gaining invaluable experience.
  • Access CPD courses throughout the position.
  • Large Secondary school located in Bury, accessible via the M66 motorway.

The successful English Graduate will work within the English department and spend 50% of the timetable supporting pupils in lessons and on a 1:1 basis. The additional 50% of the position will focus upon covering lessons in the absence of English teachers, learning how to plan and deliver engaging lessons to challenge the abilities of all learners.

This opportunity will provide the successful English Graduate with the skills necessary to become an outstanding English teacher in the future.

  • 1:1 and small group English intervention work.
  • Raising attainment and monitoring progress within the English department.
  • Covering and leading lessons to build classroom management and presence.
  • Planning and preparing activities under the guidance of the class teacher.

The school caters for a diverse catchment area and there are a high percentage of pupils that speak English as an Additional Language (EAL). Due to this, the support required within the English department is vital to ensuring all pupils achieve above and beyond their expected grade.

With 900 pupils currently attending the mixed comprehensive 11-16 Secondary school, and a large school building, the English department currently cover two blocks with classrooms, library areas and an open study room. These facilities can be fully utilised by the successful English Graduate to ensure all pupils' needs are catered for.

Located towards the north of Bury town centre, the school can easily be accessed via the M66 motorway. For non drivers, there are ample public transportation links from neighbouring areas Rochdale, Bolton and central Manchester that lead directly to the school.
