ENGLISH GRADUATE Academic Tutor

Teaching Personnel are recruiting on behalf of a MAT with schools in the NG3 area of Nottingham who have openings for English Graduates / Specialists to join their team of regular academic mentors. The school require academic mentors to work with them on a adhoc temporary basis, supporting students in small groups or individually - for confident applicants there may also be the opportunity to cover lessons in the absence of the class teacher.

  • English Cover Supervisor
  • MAT made up of 2 comprehensive schools and 1 college
  • Temporary position for the full academic year
  • Earn up to £325 per week, depending upon previous experience
  • Gain invaluable experience prior to completing a teacher training programme
  • Opportunity of further development through CPD courses

The successful English Graduate / academic mentor will be required to work between 3-5 days a week from 8.30am until the end of the school day each day.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Support students individually or in small groups to increase their understanding of their current school work
  • Covering lessons when permanent staff are absent through sickness (English department)
  • Ensuring behaviour policies are followed and students are completing the cover work that has been left for them

It is essential that interested Mentors have previous experience working with children and young people. Good Behaviour management is also desired for this position.

There will be expectations that the successful candidate will support students across the ability range so flexibility and confidence is essential. Cover Supervisors will receive full support and have the opportunity to partake in regular CPD training sessions.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE Maths & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
