Job description

The Centre encompasses a day school and two residential settings based in Weymouth, Dorset offering specialised, high quality care and therapy for young disabled people from 3-25 years old. All of the residents/students have additional needs including communication difficulties, learning difficulties and challenging behaviour.

Requirements of the role:

  1. Support student's in or outside the classroom throughout the school day, in a range of subjects and activities such as reading, maths, ICT, PE.
  2. Prepare classroom as directed for lessons, and clear afterwards. Provide administration support to the Teacher and Senior Teaching Assistant as required, such as photocopying, filing, typing of data, etc. and assist with the display of student's work.
  3. To support the use of ICT effectively in the classroom and develop student's competence and independence in its use.
  4. Establish good working relationships with students, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
  5. Promote and reinforce student's self-esteem, social development and independence, encouraging students to interact with others and engage in activities.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
