An all-age through SEN school located in Plymouth is currently recruiting for multiple Teaching Assistants to work on a 1:1 basis to support pupils with complex needs. The position is to start immediately.

The school has a supportive SLT and is known for making its staff feel appreciated and valued. There is opportunity to progress in your career in the school and complete regular training.

About the role:

  • SEN Teaching Assistant (multiple roles available)
  • Supporting pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviour
  • Monday to Friday, 8:30 - 15:30, term time only
  • Start ASAP
  • Working on a 1:1 basis with pupils led by a class teacher and supported by other Teaching Assistants

About the School:

This SEN School in Plymouth caters for children and young people with a wide range of learning difficulties, including Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) and complex needs. All pupils at the school have an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP).

The ideal candidate / desired skills and experience:

  • Available to start immediately
  • Commit to a full time long term role (5 days a week)
  • PECS and/or Makaton experience
  • MAPA or Team Teach (or equivalent positive handling training)
  • SEMH/SEN experience
  • Engaging personality
  • The ability to build strong relationships
  • Teaching assistant/ Learning Support Assistant
  • Youth work / Support Work / Care Work/ Sports background
  • Full clean driving licence with access to a car daily would be advantageous

In order to work for Teaching Personnel and clear our vetting process, you must have a Child Workforce DBS subscribed to the Update Service. Full assistance will be provided should you need to apply for a new check, at a standard cost of GBP40, plus an annual subscription fee of GBP13 for the Update Service.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
