A large independent Special Needs day school which provides a highly specialist learning environment for students aged 6 to 19 who have a range of PMLD, MLD and SLD needs including autism spectrum disorders, ADHD and associated difficulties, who require an individualised, specialist approach. Many of our students have complex medical needs and sensory/ physical impairments. Our students are supported to manage sensory overload, anxiety, low self-esteem, low confidence, and difficulty with transitions which is often demonstrative through their behaviours. 

 

We are a well-resourced school with exceptional fully inclusive facilities, including a Hydrotherapy pool and well-developed outdoor learning facilities. We are fortunate to have our own full therapeutic team who work closely with class leaders in the development of our child centred curriculum. 

 

The Role:

 

Due to the continued expansion of the school’s provision, we are currently looking for an Early Years Teacher to join our NAS accredited specialist team to create better outcomes and life chances for our students.  The post offers fantastic opportunities for an innovative SEN teacher with passion to bring further challenge and ambition to learning for students with profound and complex needs. 

 

It will be your responsibility to plan and deliver high quality teaching and learning within a meaningful and engaging curriculum that stretches and challenges all learners within your class.

Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:

 

  • PGCE, QTS or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training
  • Working knowledge of the Teacher Standards and expectations
  • Knowledge and personal experience of SEN learning particularly sensory lead curriculums
  • Positive team working, being able to contribute to our established team
  • Diligence and accuracy in assessing, reporting and recording
  • The ability to lead and direct other adults supporting within the class
  • The role may require participation in physical intervention and personal care routines
