Looking for a new and exciting school for September 2020?

Our client school in Winchester are looking for a suitably qualified Drama Teacher on a full-time basis from September 2020. The position is to teach Drama at KS3 and 4 in a supportive and thriving  performing arts department of 4 staff members. You will be fully supported with plenty of opportunity for career progression. Applicants are welcome from Newly Qualified Teachers to Experienced Teachers of Drama. The school is over-subscribed serving Winchester and the surrounding areas. The school was inspected by Ofsted and judged to be “good” in its most recent inspection, including behaviour of students and leadership and management.

Your Opportunity:

  • To play a crucial role in developing and adapt the classroom curriculum to meet students’ needs and ensuring that students develop a depth and love of the subject
  • To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students
  • To make sure all students develop a deep and connected knowledge and skills of the subject of drama

What we are looking for:

  • A committed practitioner, who will want to attain the highest standards in teaching and learning and who will expect excellence from the students
  • A collaborative and motivated individual who will lead the subject through a variety of innovative approaches including curriculum design, teaching strategies, use of technology and intervention programmes

As part of the school, your responsibilities will be:

  • To assist in the development of appropriate schemes of work, resources marking policies and teaching strategies in the subject area
  • To ensure that the classroom curriculum is well planned and logically sequenced to help students learn the subject
  • To contribute to the subject area’s Development Plan and its implementation.
  • To engage actively in the Performance Management Review process
  • To communicate effectively with all stakeholders involved with the School
  • To follow agreed policies for communications in the school, including the use of technology
  • To play a full part in the life of the school community, to support its distinctive aim and ethos and to encourage staff and students to follow this example. This includes open evening and school events

To comply with the school’s Health and Safety policy and undertake risk assessments as In line with the Government’s announcement, the school is closed until further notice. However, during this period it is our intention to continue with critical recruitment for key positions starting in September 2020. In place of school interviews, alternative options will be offered so that no one is at a disadvantage, and applicants should expect telephone or virtual interviews, with the possibility of onsite school interviews only in special cases. We want to reassure applicants that effective measures have been implemented to ensure their health and wellbeing whilst on school premises.
