  • Are you passionate about aiding the development of children, ensuring that they fully maximise their abilities to the full?

A school based in Tameside is looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join the support staff on a temporary basis. The role will focus on helping those with SEN in a variety of different ways. Those that hold prior experience in working with children with SEN are encouraged to apply. This role also presents itself as the ideal opportunity for those that are looking to begin a career within the education sector, and are looking to gain practical experience. The role will allow the applicant to engage pupils on both a group and individual basis, meaning that they will gain extensive knowledge regarding the complexities often faced by children with SEN within a mainstream school setting. It is very important that the applicant is able to understand the basic needs of individuals with the following:

  • ADHD
  • Autism
  • Asperger’s Syndrome
  • Behavioural issues
  • Downs Syndrome
  • Multi-sensory impairment
  • Visual impairment

The role will begin in the new academic year in September.

Key aspects of this role include:

  • Developing and preparing adequate educational resources, and working in partnership with teaching staff to gauge the suitability of these based on the needs of a given individual (s).
  • Offering support and guidance to those with SEN within the classroom, as well as across the school site.
  • Managing behaviour expectations, understanding how these may differ for a child with SEN in comparison to those who do not have SEN.
  • Pay - GBP275-350 per week, based on prior experience.

The school is located in Tameside.

There are several motorway links close by, allowing ease of access in getting to the school. Additionally, it is important to note that there are numerous public transport links within close proximity. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
