An opportunity has arisen for a Design and Technology Teacher to join the staff at a school in Tameside. The role is advertised on a temporary basis. The required applicant will hold QTS, and will be educated to degree level in a subject directly relatable to Design and Technology. It is imperative that the applicant will be able to develop positive working relationships with both students and other members of the school staff. Previous experience working within a secondary school is important. Additionally, it is vital to consider how the applicant will implement their own unique strategies in order to best ensure that every child fully maximises their ability within the subject. The required applicant will be able to apply their own approach onto lessons, whilst ensuring that students remain focused and engaged throughout. The role will begin after the Easter break, and will run until the end of the academic year.
Key aspects of this role include:
- Working with children across a wide range of abilities , ethnicities and ages.
- Being able to effectively work in line with school curriculum, whilst ensuring that general factors such as attendance monitoring and assessment creation are also considered.
- Being able to competently use school equipment, whilst also being able to safely teach students the correct procedures/practice with regards to such equipment.
- Monitoring children with SEN, and ensuring that the needs of these children are met effectively in order to ensure consistency across the board for all students.
- Considering the needs of those whose primary language may not necessarily be English, and being understanding of the complexities that these children may face.
- Implementing strategies specifically designed to further develop a student’s progress, as well as managing individual attainment plans.
The school is located in Tameside, just a short distance from Manchester city centre. There are several motorways in close proximity to the school itself. Additionally, there are several public transport links to the Tameside area e.g Metrolink/Bus routes.
