Day Support Workers required for Residential School

Job description

We're looking for Support Workers to work along a close-knit team in Lymington. The School is a residential provision for young people aged 7-19 who have Asperger's Syndrome or have other associated difficulties on the Autistic Spectrum.

As a team at the school, we aim to teach the young people self-management by helping them to utilise their strengths and manage their difficulties successfully.

In this role you will:

  • Offer enhanced care with a flexible learning approach for all our young people
  • Attend to practical matters in relation to childcare, ensuring you meet the physical, emotional, behavioural, cultural and educational needs of young people
  • Establish positive relationships with young people and always offer them unconditional and positive regard
  • Help young people gain self-control by challenging unacceptable behaviour and rewarding acceptable, pro-social conduct
  • Ensure that each young person's care plan is followed and amended as appropriate to reflect their changing needs

We're looking for people who:

  • Have excellent communication skills and are a good team player
  • Have a caring and compassionate nature
  • Have the energy to provide a trusting stimulating and varied lifestyle to the children
  • Wish to make a difference in children's lives
  • Are at least 18 years of age.

If you have experience working as a Support Worker or experience with Autism and Aspergers this is an advantage however not essential.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
