The role: A Cover Supervisor

Supervising classes

  • You will have responsibility for watching over classes, engaging them and remedying and issues that may arise.
  • You will be able to follow established behavioural structures
  • You may be required to deliver pre-planned lessons to pupils when the regular teacher is otherwise engaged outside the classroom.
  • You must a calm and collected individual, capable of handling disruptive pupils
  • You must be able to handle very disruptive behaviour
  • You must be able to build positive relationships with staff and students alike
  • You should be able challenge pupil's education in order to improve educational attainment.

Passion!

  • You must be passionate about educating young people and have a desire to improve the lives of pupils.
  • You must be enthusiastic about developing yourself professionally and gaining, experience, skills and understanding of teaching in a diverse range of settings.

Supporting staff development

  • Supporting the teacher in achieving classroom objectives and taking a flexible and versatile approach to tasks.

This is not necessarily an exhaustive list of all responsibilities or requirements of the Cover Supervisor role and there may be times where we request additional tasks to be performed as part of the role.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
