Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant for one of our client schools in Stockport.
The role begins in September and will run for the full academic year, the school could look to make the role permanent, depending on performance.
The pay for this role is between £385 - £450 per week.
We particularly welcome applications from:
- Graduates – looking to build experience before teacher training.
- Youth Workers – who have prior experience working with children.
- Sports Coaches – who have the transferable skills needed to engage young people.
- Healthcare Workers – with experience of working with children or adults with additional needs.
- Experienced Support Staff – looking for their next role supporting young people across KS3 and KS4.
Our client school has a significant number of pupils with EHCP’s and the students who access SEN services is above the national average. It is also expected that the applicant can help new Year 7 pupils who are struggling with the transition into secondary school life, the applicant will be expected to be able to connect with all the students they come into contact with, including those with very complex requirements. There is a significant amount of pupils who are currently residing in foster/residential care. Getting these pupils to engage can be tricky, meaning the successful applicant must hold outstanding interpersonal skills. Our client is looking for someone who is approachable and empathetic, who can display a composed demeanour at all times. The role will involve managing some difficult scenarios being able to stay focused and being able to work as proactively as possible is vital.
Additionally, it is important the applicant can:
- Provide in-depth support within the classroom, producing detailed resources relevant to specific topics and provide valuable feedback.
- Develop students’ knowledge and ability across subjects, providing continuous support pastorally.
- Work in a wide SEN team in looking to support students with a range of additional learning requirements to provide students with a great learning experience.
- Work with students from vast multicultural and diverse backgrounds, you will sometimes need to engage students who speak different languages.
- Provide 1:1 and small group interventions.
The successful applicant will receive full training around key school issues such as Safeguarding, EAL and SEMH, there are also a variety of CPD courses available via Teaching Personnel and internally within the school.
For those who drive, the school is right on the M60 with secure onsite parking. There is a local train station a 5-minute walk away from the site with services running direct to and from Manchester Piccadilly. There are bus stops on the school’s doorstep with many services running into and around the town centre.
The successful applicant must provide a full DBS check and 2 references from former employers, character references are accepted if you have not had 2 employers.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
