Job description

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a large RC Secondary school within the Bury LEA, who wish to appoint a team of Graduate Cover Supervisors ahead of January 2019. This position is perfect for Graduates wishing to pursue a career in Secondary teaching, and wish to gain invaluable experience before beginning a PGCE/teacher training course.

What is a Cover Supervisor?

Essentially, a Cover Supervisor is an 'unqualified teacher' who covers lessons across the curriculum in the absence of the class teacher. The lessons will have pre-set work, and the Cover Supervisor will be expected to deliver this work and manage the classroom.

  • Covering lessons across the curriculum with pre-set work
  • Gain an insight into full class supervision
  • Invaluable experience prior to beginning a PGCE/Teacher training programme
  • Earn up to £300 per week, depending upon previous experience.

**It is not essential to have previous experience working with children and young people for this position; however a full Child Workforce DBS Certificate must be obtainable alongside two references. **

Graduates of all specialism are urged to apply for this position, and will have the opportunity to improve experiences prior to completing a PGCE/teacher training programme in September 2019.

Our partner Secondary school is significantly larger than the national average with over 1,200 on roll at present. The school caters for students from Prestwich and Whitefield and the majority of pupils are of white British heritage.

Located in Bury, the school can be accessed via the M60 and M66 motorways. For those without access to a car, there are a number of public transportation links that lead directly to the school from central Manchester, Rochdale and Bolton.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
