I am recruiting a Cover Supervisor (Cover Teacher) for a full-time permanent position in a Secondary School in Scarborough. This role is to start ASAP and it is a permanent role for the appropriate Cover Supervisor (Cover Teacher).

Cover Supervisor duties (Cover Teacher) 

The Cover Supervisor’s main duty is to manage a classroom, ensuring that students remain on task with the work they have been set. However, the role of a Cover Supervisor (Cover Teacher) can go further than that and include the following duties: Teaching grammar; Managing behaviour; Discussing and debating texts with pupils and answering questions; Differentiating and allocating extension exercises.

Qualifications needed

Although possessing an honours degree would be preferable, Cover Supervisors (Cover Teachers) don't need an official qualification to be able to work in a school. The minimum requirement is possessing GCSE qualifications, including English and Maths. You need to be a strong character for this role, be resilient, personable, engaging and have a good sense of humour.

The role

This role will be on a full-time basis and could become permanent for the perfect candidate. You can expect weekly wages on PAYE, with rates of pay of up to GBP12.50 per hour (depending on experience). The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, from 8am until 3pm.
