Cover Supervisor for September 2018

This vacancy has now expired.

Job description

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a school based in Fareham who is recruiting a Classroom Supervisor to join an enthusiastic, committed team of cover staff who work closely with teachers to provide continuity to children's learning during teacher absences. A cover supervisor stands in during short-term absences of a teacher. These might be known in advance (for example, where a teacher has a medical appointment or is undergoing professional development) or unexpected (for example, absence due to illness).

Working as a cover supervisor can be extremely rewarding but also very demanding. There is a high level of responsibility and although there is always a teacher close at hand if needed, there is a large amount of autonomy.

  • Do you have previous experience of working with young people or a desire to embark on a career working in this area?
  • Are you a flexible, resilient team player?
  • Do you have excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills?
  • Would you be confident in using a range of strategies to deal with classroom behaviour as a whole, and also individual behavioural needs?
  • Are you a graduate looking to secure school based paid experience prior to applying for a Teacher Training course?

Interviews will be held in the second week of September so if you are interested in this role, you are encouraged to apply no later than Monday 3rd September. The successful candidate will initially be employed through Teaching Personnel and transitioned onto the schools contract after the successful completion of a probationary period.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
