Counselling Teaching Assistants - Oldham

Job description

A Small Secondary Specialist School in Oldham are currently seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant who can offer a therapeutic approach to supporting the learning and development of pupils with SEN. The majority of pupils who attend the Setting have SEMH needs so ideally the Teaching Assistant will have a background in counselling.

This position is commencing as soon as possible and is initially running for a full academic year until July 2019; however there could initially be a permanent position dependent on funding.

The role will involve providing pastoral support and intervention to pupils who are identified as vulnerable. Due to the nature of the needs of the pupils who attend this setting the Head teacher is seeking Teaching Assistants who come from a counselling background.

To be considered for this position you should have:

  • A qualification or background in counselling
  • A desire to grow in the field of education
  • Experience working within a school setting or specialist provision

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
