Construction Teaching Assistant Needed

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a KCC Foundation Special School for children and young people with an EHCP for SEMH needs from age 10 to 16 and then 16+ in their Sixth Form College provision. Students who are admitted to the school have complex and wide ranging difficulties; that come from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds and also from a wide geographical area.

This position would be within the Sixth Form College provision, which is an independent special post 16 provider for students with EHCPs. Currently courses on offer at the College are Construction, Motor Mechanics, English and Maths GCSE. The successful applicant will support students on a 1:1 basis and in group sessions to motivate the students to learn and engage them in each lesson.

The school is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant who is passionate about working with young people with Special Educational Needs, and who can help us make a positive impact on a student's life by helping them to achieve their full potential.

All the students have an Education, Health and Care Plan in place and a range of needs including Social, Emotional & Mental Health difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Disorder and ADHD.

For the construction role we are looking for candidates who possess:

• A passion and commitment to supporting vulnerable young people
• Experience/a background in working within construction - any of the following; bricklaying, carpentry and joinery, plastering, painting and decorating, construction operations, wall and floor tiling, electrical and plumbing
• Ideally have some knowledge or experience working with young people with SEN
• Are willing to work as part of a team
• Have the commitment and enthusiasm to provide bespoke learning experiences to troubled young people
• Patience, resilience, calm and composure
• Flexibility and adaptability
• A proven ability to meet deadlines and work comfortably in a challenging and demanding environment
