The Head Teacher of a popular secondary school in Chorley is currently seeking an enthusiastic and inspiring Teacher of Computing to join his exciting department from January 2020 or sooner.
The computing department is a small, close knit department who share a passion for delivering computing. Lessons take place in dedicated modern suites which are well resourced with desktop PCs, some Macs, air conditioning and interactive white-boards.
A variety of websites and resources are used within the department including Python, Scratch and BBC Micro:bits. Google Drive is used to share resources within the department and Google Classroom is used for managing classwork and homework alike. The successful candidate MUST have experience with these.
The teach is passionate about computing and are always looking at ways to improve the curriculum, engage young people and teach computing principles in new and engaging ways. Partnership and co-ordination are very important in building a successful curriculum and we believe that increasing students’ enjoyment and curiosity of the subject will enhance attainment and progress.
Computer Science GCSE (OCR) is currently an option and students can select this at the end of year eight. Having three years at GCSE allows students to study programming in more depth during year nine and this also gives time for students to be inquisitive and enjoy the subject.
