Psychology Graduate

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a Psychology Graduate to join one of client schools in Manchester.

If you are interested in working in an education setting or working alongside children with autism, this position will be ideal for you. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be able to apply your degree and your understanding of autism in young people, as well as other special needs, by assisting pupils in their learning development.

The salary for this position will be £385 to £450, dependent on the requirements from the school.

You must:

• Be willing to apply for a fully enhanced DBS check.
• You must be able to work full time.
• You must be able to commute to central Manchester.
• You must be able to provide at least two employment-based references.

This position will be full-time, and it is due to start in September, with the start of the new academic year.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting the most vulnerable pupils in the school by working in small groups of students or on a one-to-one basis to target their learning needs.  Many of the pupils that you will be working with will have autism, ADHD, and other learning difficulties. It is hugely important that you are able to build relationships with the pupils, so you are best able to support them. You should monitor the progression of the pupils, being able to give feedback to the SENCO. It is vital that you are able to create a safe working environment for the pupils, you will work with the other members of staff to achieve this. You will have to manage their behaviour traits, which at times has the potential to be challenging.

The school is located in Central Manchester, it is easy to commute to from the surrounding areas of Old Trafford, Fallowfield, Chorlton and Moss Side. It is an all-girls secondary school. Currently it has an Ofsted rating of good. The school is known to have a great working environment; therefore, it will be an ideal setting to gain experience in education.
