Job description

A secondary school in the Warrington area is looking to recruit a Computer Science teacher to start with them following the October half term. The Computer Science teacher is required due to an forthcoming open vacancy within the school's Computing department. The teacher of Computer Science will therefore be required for the remainder of the autumn term but also the spring term at least until Easter. This is the plan in the first instance but there is the opportunity to progress onto a school based contract.

This is a full time teaching position working with the head of department at this highly reputable secondary school. Given the nature of the role and the longer term plan, the successfully appointed Computer Science teacher will be expected to take on planning and marking responsibilities as well as have the opportunity to develop schemes of work.

Highlights of this Computer Science teaching position:

  • Full time Computer Science teacher required starting after the October half term
  • On a supply basis in the first instance with the opportunity to progress onto a school based contract
  • Pay will be based on teacher's payscale and experience: £23,720 - £39,406

  • Full planning and marking responsibilities will be included as part of this teaching position

This school follows the OCR syllabus which includes a programming project, programming techniques and computer systems as well as algorithms and pseudocode. The successful computer science teacher should therefore be comfortable teaching all aspects of the syllabus. Prior experience of the OCR curriculum is not essential.

The ideal computer science teacher should be able to teach engaging lessons utilising the school's state of the art equipment. The equipment will be at the disposal of the successfully appointed teacher; having the ability to teach innovative lessons across the curriculum.

This secondary school is situated in the central Warrington area making it very easy to access via the many A-roads and motorway network. Being located in close proximity to the M6, M56 and the A56 and A57, those Maths teachers that drive will find commuting to the school easy enough. Those on public transport will find the central Warrington station closeby, making the commute on public transport also convenient.
