Class Teacher - SEN

I am currently looking to recruit Fully Qualified Teachers, specialising in SEN for a community special academy for pupils aged 5-18 with a wide range of ability levels and additional learning needs, including moderate learning difficulties and autism.

The ideal candidate will:

• Be committed, enthusiastic and self-reflective
• Be experienced in the field of special education
• Possess excellent communication and organisational skills
• Demonstrate a commitment to ensuring pupils achieve their full potential
• Plan and deliver learning which is fun, engaging, relevant and functional
• Work collaboratively with external professionals e.g. therapists

You will need to hold UK QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification in order to apply for this role, other essential requirements include…

• Legal right to work in the UK
• A Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service
• Overseas Criminal Clearance (if applicable)
• The ability to provide two school based references from the last 6 years

As a SEN specialist, it is essential that you have experience working with students on the Autistic Spectrum, as well as students with Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties. Makaton or PECS knowledge is desired but not essential. It is important that you are able to plan and create engaging lessons and have excellent interpersonal skills. You will also need to have a positive approach to teaching and learning, with effective behaviour management.
