An opportunity has arisen at a school in Tameside is looking for an experienced Chemistry teacher to join the teaching staff on a temporary, part time basis in September 2021. It is crucial that the required applicant:

  • Holds (QTS) – or an equivalent qualification.
  • Is educated to degree level (preferably in Chemistry, or another Science related subject)
  • Is able to confidently deliver lessons to large group sizes.

The applicant will be able to successfully consider:

  • The importance of delivering school curriculum, whilst also being able to offer their own unique strategies to reinforce learning.
  • The need to make the learning process easily accessible for those requiring EAL support, and be able to effectively manage these students to ensure that they fully maximise their overall ability.
  • The importance of overall lab safety, as well as ensuring that all equipment that is used and is calibrated and used in line with school safety policy.
  • Being able to mark and grade work, as well as regularly feedback to senior leadership with regards to student’s progress.
  • Recommendations made by Ofsted, and understanding how consistent improvements can be made.
  • The complexities behind the subject itself - being able to offer intervention strategies that are sufficient in ensuring that pupils who require additional help are catered for.

Additionally, other key aspects of this role are:

  • Working with support staff to ensure that students that require additional support are catered.
  • Working with students with SEN, and ensuring that the work for these students is differentiated effectively, as well as those requiring EAL support.
  • Pay - GBP24,373 - GBP40,490 annually, based on previous experience.

The school’s location:

  • The school is located in Tameside, close to Manchester city centre.
  • There are several motorways in close proximity, as well as numerous public transport links, owing to the school’s location.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
