We are looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join an Ofsted ‘Good’ school in Stockport. The role runs from April 2023 until July 2023.

This school believe in a full, broad and balanced curriculum. Students who require learning support study a full curriculum and will have the chance to access all opportunities. A learning need does not mean that they won’t have the same opportunities as all other students.

Successful applicants must take pride in knowing students personally including their families to ensure the best possible academic outcomes for each student.

Key aspects of this role include:

  • Support teaching & learning activities with individual children/small groups in KS3&KS4.
  • Work under the guidance of teaching staff to implement agreed work programmes.
  • Assist the teacher in the planning, management & preparation of resources.
  • Assist with the inclusion of pupils with SEN and supporting small groups or individuals within the classroom.
  • Be an integral part of the school, working in close partnership with all staff.
  • Help delivering adapted curriculum material to students
  • Using recommended aids, such as laptops, reading pens, coloured overlays and glasses, visual timetables, dyslexia font, use of larger fonts, etc.
  • Adapting teaching, giving longer processing times, opportunities for peer-to-peer work, , giving instructions in different formats, etc.

Ther main strands to the intervention strategy:

  • In-class support – to enable access to the full curriculum.
  • Withdrawal – usually limited to no more than 15% of the week
  • Combination – a combination of both in-class support and withdrawal.
  • Use of integrated learning packages and other software.
  • Assistance with mobility, dexterity, hearing, seeing or handling materials.
  • Mentoring

When commuting to school the methods are relatively easy. The school is situated 5 minutes away from a train station, 4 minutes from the closest bus stop and just 10 minutes away from the centre of Stockport.

Pay ranges from £350-£400 a week dependant on prior experience. This role no doubt offers more than just a wage, being the person responsible for students improved academic and personal success provides fantastic job satisfaction.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
