I would like to hear from you if the answer to these questions is yes! I am working with a large SEN school that caters for students with profound and multiple learning difficulties. They are looking to recruit a dedicated and proactive learning support assistant, who is passionate about working children with special needs and is able to use hoist equipment for the moving and handling of students who have physical disabilities.

  • Start after Easter for a period of 5 weeks to begin with - continue for the rest of the academic year if you are successful and like the school
  • Support a key stage 4 class comprising 9 students with a mixture of physical/medical needs
  • Support the class teacher and work collaboratively with 3 other teaching assistants
  • Take part in sensory development and work on verbal and non-verbal communication
  • Use hoist equipment on a daily basis for moving and handling
  • Provide personal care - toileting and changing
  • Work school hours - 08:30am - 15:30pm Monday to Friday, term time only
  • Relevant training in Makaton, PECS, moving and handling, first aid, child protection or safeguarding is desirable


  • Once registered with Teaching Personnel you will be eligible to book yourself onto any of the training courses that we offer, which will either be free or at a reduced cost
  • You will also be eligible to attend all whole school CPD INSET training days
  • Receive weekly pay at a competitive rate with potential to increase your salary after the first 5 weeks (starting salary between £55 and £65 per day, dependent on experience)
  • Take the opportunity to apply for a permanent role at this school if you would like to continue working with them
  • Work under the supervision of an extremely organised and supportive SLT
  • Receive a national insurance and pension contribution from Teaching Personnel as we will be your direct employer
  • Recommend a teaching assistant or teacher to Teaching Personnel and receive a £50 bonus
