Teaching Assistant

  • Are you BSL qualified?
  • Have you worked with visual impaired or hearing impaired?
  • Do you have a DBS on the update service?

A sensory support service who provides specialist support to schools with children 0-19 years and young people people who are deaf or have visual impairment.

The service is staffed by qualified teachers of the deaf, qualified teachers of the visually impaired, specialist teaching assistants, audiologists, a mobility and orientation officer and a resources technician.

You are to support in early years settings including private and voluntary providers. Access to your own vehicle is required.

The service offers support to pupils, families and settings providing specialist assessment, direct teaching, communication support, advice, resourcing and modification of materials and provision of specialist equipment. Also on offer are a range of extra curricular events, youth club activities, residential trips and parents’ groups.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
