BSL - British Sign Language - Teaching Assistant / Communication Assistant

About the role:

  • Teaching Assistant / Communication Assistant, part time (2 or 3 days a week), beginning ASAP, initially until Christmas 2018
  • Working 1:1 with a KS2 pupil with Hearing Impairment
  • A lovely, welcoming mid-sized primary school
  • Successful candidate will have qualifications and experience of British Sign Language
  • Role has strong potential to become a full time role after Christmas 2018, with temp-to-perm very possible

What you will need:

  • Ideally, Level 3 BSL certification - however, the school will consider candidates with lower level qualifications
  • Experience of using BSL to support pupils with Hearing Impairment
  • EWC Registration as Support Staff
  • A current DBS certificate, registered with the Update Service
  • Availability to attend paid trial days of support work for selection purposes

The school are urgently seeking someone with the skills, experience and qualification for a role that may become a very long term or even permanent role for the right candidate. As such, being able to meet, register and clear all vetting checks with Teaching Personnel will allow for a very swift start to paid trial days, which will lead to a significant period of work for the right candidate.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
