Behavioural Teaching Assistant required for secondary school in Wigan. Our client school is a purpose built building for pupils with SEMH difficulties. The pupils in this school have very challenging behaviour and so this teaching assistant will need to be able to tolerate verbal and physical aggression. Their central aim to enable them to feel valued and respected as individuals and see them constructively involved in the life and work at school.
The School:

- Encourage students to respect themselves and each other by valuing the talents of individuals and celebrating their differences
- Provide strong pastoral care with opportunities for partnership with parents and carers to ensure a high level of support, both emotionally and educationally
- Reward all students for their positive contributions to the school
- Encourage good behaviour and self-respect in our young people
You:
- Ensure the school's teaching and learning policy is implemented consistently;
- Identify and remove barriers to learning;
- Ensure the classroom ethos and environment promotes learning;
- Ensure pupils are clear about the expected learning outcomes;
- Ensure lessons are well structured, have a brisk pace and provide opportunities to extend and review learning;
- Ensure teachers' planning takes account of continuity and progression in learning, and takes account of pupils' prior attainment;
- Ensure teachers know how pupils learn best; ensure pupils receive feedback on how they can improve their learning.
- Ensure assessment takes place to inform planning and therefore enhance pupil progress.
You must have had solid experience working with children and/or young people with behavioural difficulties. It is preferred for this school for teaching assistant to be Team-Teach qualified or have MAPA/SCIPP or similar restraint training. This however is not essential and can be provided by Teaching Personnel
