Job description

Teaching Personnel are actively seeking Behaviour Support Assistants for our partner secondary behaviour school in Liverpool. Due to an influx of pupils from the Merseyside area being referred to the school, the teaching assistant support needs have increased. The school require TAs on a day to day basis as well as those who are looking at longer term work.

Bank staff behavioural teaching assistants required

  • Required to start immediately
  • Working across all year groups on a 1-to-1 basis with identified pupils and as a general behavioural teaching assistant
  • Previous experience of supporting pupils with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and special educational needs is preferred.

Pupils arrive at this school in crisis after experiencing significant educational difficulties, long periods of non-attendance, exclusions and disengagement within mainstream schools. The school are very skilled at building positive relationships with pupils displaying challenging behaviour and work exceptionally hard to break down barriers to learning and give all pupils the chance to succeed.

The ideal candidate will be confident challenging disengaged behaviour effectively. You must be able to de-escalate apathy to learning in a calm manner. You will be responsible for reinforcing positive behaviour management strategies and recording progress for the school.

The pupils at this school do have very challenging behaviour and so any teaching assistants who apply need to be able to manage verbal and physical aggression. Having Team-Teach, MAPA, SCIPP or any other restraint training would be very advantageous for this role.

The school is located in North Liverpool, a short drive from the M62 for behavioural teaching assistant who drive, and a 10 minute walk from a bus stop for those requiring public transport.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
