Behaviour Support Worker required in Bradford

Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit a Behaviour Support Worker for a 1:1 role in an alternative provision in Bradford which caters for pupils aged 11-16 with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. You will be working on a 1:1 basis with a Year 9 Looked After Child (LAC) who has recently relocated to the area and is requiring specific support to aid transition into the setting.

As a 1:1 Behaviour Support Worker, you will have the ability to build strong, trusting and stable relationships with young people, and be consistent in your approach to behaviour management. You will be required to communicate with Social Workers, Carers and other key professionals and will have excellent interpersonal skills. You will be able to provide holistic support both on an academic and pastoral basis; providing emotional support where appropriate. You may have a background in Counselling, Youth Work or Psychology, or have previous experience providing Behaviour Support for young people in an education, health or care setting.

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Previous experience of meeting the Social Emotional and Mental Health Needs of young people
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to de-escalate challenging behaviour and prevent pupils reaching crisis
  • A passion to make a positive difference in a young person's life
  • A full, valid driving license with access to a vehicle
  • Patience and reliability to provide consistency for a pupil with complex needs
  • Sensitivity to the challenges relating to young people in care

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
