Behaviour Support Worker - Redruth - Secondary

Some of the main responsibilities are:

  • Conduct 1:1 and group work on areas such as social skills, anger management, and friendship.
  • Working effectively as part of a team of mentors as well as other areas within inclusion.
  • Provide one to one sessions with students that have been highlighted as vulnerable.
  • Taking students off base to maximise learning in a variety of environments
  • Overseeing the progress and attainment of the pupil you are supporting
  • Discussing pupil progress with lead teachers and base managers

You will be working in a small department of mentors who are specifically tasked with working with students in an education base that aims to reintegrate the pupil back into mainstream education, looking to realign their attitudes to learning and social conduct. The School has a firm belief in inclusion and that every student matters. They would like all students to participate in core lessons and your ability to reason with students and understand why their behaviour is of a standard below what is expected, plus the ability to help rectify this, is extremely desirable.

For this position you will need to have the ability to relate to pupils between the ages of 11 and 16, you will need to be firm but fair in your approach and encourage pupils into class in a positive, but authoritative manner.

Suitable candidates for this role would have :

  • Level 3 or equivalent
  • BTEC Sports
  • Graduates
  • Experienced and trained Teaching Assistants
  • HLTA experience
  • Passion for education and wanting to make a difference

  • Full Clean Driving Licence is required : with your own vehicle

Full training provided as part of the role, with ongoing support available, the role is 08:30 - 15:30 5 Monday to Friday,. term time only, ongoing position.
