Behaviour Support Worker

Are you experienced supporting pupils with challenging behaviour? Are you able to put effective strategies in place in order to avoid confrontational and disruptive behaviour?

If so a Catholic Primary school located in the Ince area of Wigan, which a been graded as Good by Ofsted, is currently looking to employ a behaviour intervention specialist to work with small groups and pupils on a 1:1 basis developing positive behaviour strategies and carrying out a nurturing role within school. The role would be to start as soon as possible and would be for 28 hours a week.

The school aims to make their school and Nursery a lively, happy place where children can learn in a positive Christian atmosphere. The dedicated staff plan the curriculum and organise their classrooms in such a way that children are well motivated and enjoy being at school. By creating a caring environment with the emphasis on co-operation and mutual respect, the school expects a high standard of social behaviour and every child to develop their full potential

For this role you will need to:

  • Have a strong background dealing with pupils with challenging behaviour
  • Possible come from a military or police background
  • Preferably team teach trained, however not essential
  • Be a good communicator and be able to work as part of a team
  • Have a good understanding of safeguard and procedures
  • Be outgoing and have a strong classroom presence
  • Be experienced working with pupils on a small group and 1:1 basis
  • Have school based experience and be able to implement a range of behaviour interventions.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
