Job description

Teaching Personnel are working with a school in Guildford (GU5) who are seeking a full time Teaching Assistant in September. The school caters for pupils aged 2-11 with Social Emotional Mental Health Need.

You will be required to support pupils within an Primary class aged between 5 and 11 years of age. In line with the Primary framework, you will support pupils' development within a continuous provision environment. As well as supporting access to activities such as Phonics, Literacy and Numeracy you will also facilitate activities designed to develop pupils' emerging skills in communication and language, physical development and personal, social and emotional development.

As an experienced Teaching Assistant, you will have a firm understanding of working within Primary and will be able to demonstrate your knowledge of:

  • Child development, both the biological and cultural aspects, and its impact on how learning may best be supported
  • Planning which ensures a relevant, motivating, flexible and interesting curriculum
  • Provision of an environment which truly enables successful learning by all children

In addition to supporting pupils within the class, you may also be required to support pupils during break and lunchtimes who may require support with feeding. Due to the complex nature of pupil needs, you will also provide personal care.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
