Behaviour Support Assistant

Do you have a passion for helping and supporting vulnerable young people, and experience in the classroom or otherwise with children who struggle with behavioural difficulties?

This Tameside coeducational secondary school with academy status is looking to employ a Behaviour Support Assistant to work with and support vulnerable young people who may be struggling with their behaviour as well as Social and Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. They are looking to employ on a full-time basis commencing after Easter 2021 temporarily until the end of the academic year in July 2021, but with the opportunity to make the position permanent at the start of the new academic year in September 2021.

The successful candidate will work together with regular classroom teachers, assistants and school senior leaders to provide support to children struggling with behavioural issues in some key areas. The candidate will provide academic support to individual and small groups of children with a goal to raise attainment and provide pastoral support in similar scenarios. Responsibilities will include providing students with programmes of work for outside the classroom, and providing in class support alongside classroom teachers to promote positive behaviour and look to raise self-esteem amongst those who struggle with social and emotional difficulties.

-          Young people with behavioural difficulties

-          Young people who may be in residential care

-          Young people with Social and Emotional Mental Health needs (SEMH)

-          Young people who may have come from a youth work environment

The highlights of this diverse role include:

-          Full time position starting after Easter 2021 for 1 term with the opportunity to become a permanent position

-          Wages up to GBP350/ week

-          Providing one-on-one and small group intervention support to improve behaviour and attainment

The successful Behaviour Support Assistant will join a bustling, Tameside based secondary school with the highest expectations of its staff and students, currently focusing on raising student attainment and academic achievements as recent performances have been well below progress 8 scores. Your role would be to contribute towards raising these numbers alongside supporting the most vulnerable children outside of the classroom as far as possible.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
