An amazing alternative provision for primary school children is looking for behaviour support to work one-to-one with its pupils. The pupils all have some form of Social, Emotional, Mental Health that requires them to have additional support during their time in education.

The school is seeking new members of staff to join the team that are able to make a difference with the pupils, work closely with them and build a level of trust that allows them to provide the right care. The pupils are often shy and reserved, often finding it difficult to adjust to change, and do not respond well to new faces straight away. The right candidates are approachable, friendly and experienced in supporting SEN pupils and exercise several techniques to tailor their approach to the pupils' needs.

School:

  • SEN school supporting SEMH pupils
  • Capacity of 52 pupils maxiumum - the school currently has 50 pupils
  • Key stage 1 - 3
  • 5 classes, 10 pupils per class
  • 1 teacher and 2 teaching assistants per class
  • hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm
  • On site Parking
  • Opportunities for training and further career progression in education
  • The school often supports their behaviour staff in their goals of becoming teachers
  • Based in Orpington

Role:

One-to-one intervention with the pupils who require additional support.

The pupils receive therapy once a month, some receive it more frequently than others (once a week or every day) depending on their needs.

Writing progress reports on the pupil's development.

Accompany the child to all their lessons.

Familiarise yourself with the child's patterns of behaviour, their likes and dislikes.

Encourage good behaviour and diffuse any conflicts before they arise.

Assist them in their lessons to ensure they understand the task at hand and have finished the task within the time given.

Communicate with the appropriate staff and the parents to ensure the child's development is being documented and new targets are created to ensure the child is getting enough support.

**In the instance that the child requires additional support then you will be working as two-to-one intervention with another behaviour support assistant.

In order to be considered, you must have a DBS registered on the update service and the appropriate documents to work in the UK.

If you have been abroad for longer than 3 months you must have an Overseas Criminal Clearance or be prepared to apply for one.
