BEHAVIOUR SUPPORT - January

Job description

Teaching Personnel are looking for a Teaching Assistant to work with a challenging ASC pupil who requires 2:1 support. The school is Outstanding and caters for students with mixed SEN including complex needs, Autism and Learning Difficulties.

We are looking for a versatile and resilient individual who can support this Autistic pupil calmly and confidently. You will be required to manage challenging behaviour and work with another member of staff to try and keep this young person calm and engaged.

The student has significant communication difficulties and has previously been at two other Special Educational Needs Schools in the Derby City area.

The start date for this is 7th January so please get in contact ASAP.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Versatile and resilient to work with challenging behaviour
  • Experience working with students who have significant communication difficulties - any of experience of Makaton or PECS is desired
  • Team Teach qualifications or other behaviour management qualifications to show an understanding of de-escalation and diffusion methods
  • Experience working in challenging SEN environments with a range of abilities and SEN needs
  • Confident to work as part of a thriving multi-disciplinary team
