Job description

A full time position for a Behaviour Support Assistant who is looking for the opportunity to work within a Specialist Setting. The position is full time and commences as soon as possible and would suit a Behaviour Support Assistant who is available immediately.

The setting is a Specialist Provision which is located in Manchester and is operated of 9 sites. The Setting provides education for pupils 11-16 who are being educated outside of Mainstream Schools. Pupils who attend the Setting may be being educated out of Mainstream for a variety of reasons including: SEMH needs, challenging behaviour and teenage pregnancy.

The ideal Behaviour Support Assistant will have experience planning and delivering interventions and implementing strategies to support the optimal development of pupils. The Behaviour Support Assistant will be responsible for building and maintaining close working relationships with pupils who often display signs of challenging behaviour.

Due to the specific needs of the pupils the Behaviour Support Assistant will have:

  • A passion for supporting the optimal development of pupils who display signs of challenging behaviour
  • An understanding of the importance of effective de-escalation tactics
  • An in-depth understanding of crisis prevention tactics
  • Experience working within a school Setting (desirable)

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
