Job description

The role is for a full time Behaviour Support Assistant who is looking for the opportunity to work within a Specialist Setting. The position is full time and initially temporary however, there may be the opportunity for permanent dependent on the needs of the setting. This position is commencing in September 2018 and running until the end of the academic year July 2019.

The setting is a Specialist School which is located in Oldham. The Setting provides education for pupils 11-16 who are being educated outside of Mainstream Schools. Pupils who attend the setting may be being educated out of mainstream for a variety of reasons including: SEMH needs, challenging behaviour and teenage pregnancy.

The ideal Behaviour Support Assistant will have experience planning and delivering interventions and implementing strategies to support the optimal development of pupils. The Behaviour Support Assistant will be responsible for building and maintaining close working relationships with pupils who often display signs of challenging behaviour.

Due to the specific needs of the pupils the Behaviour Support Assistant will have:

  • A passion for supporting the optimal development of pupils who display signs of challenging behaviour
  • An understanding of the importance of effective de-escalation tactics
  • Team- Teach training (can be provided)
  • An in-depth understanding of crisis prevention tactics

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
