Are you experienced supporting pupils with SEMH, Challenging Behavioural needs or ASC needs? Are you able to implement effective behaviour management strategies or are you Team Teach trained? Do you have a real passion for making a difference in pupils learning journeys and providing further opportunities to pupils that come from disadvantaged backgrounds?

If so a larger than average primary school located in the Hindley area of Wigan, that was previously graded as Good by Ofsted, is looking to appoint a behaviour support assistant to work across both Year 5 and Year 6 classes, providing both general support to the class teacher and tailoring specific interventions to ensure that little learning time is wasted and pupils remain on task in a safe and nurturing environment. The classes that you would be working in do have challenges and require someone who has patience and is looking to make a real difference. The school are looking for someone who can bring consistency back into the classroom, resulting positively in pupils learning and classroom engagement. This role would be to start from February and has the potential to continue on to a contract for the right candidate.

In order to be successful you will need to:

  • Have previous experience dealing with challenging behaviour, SEMH, Counselling or ASC needs.
  • Have a calm and approachable manor.
  • Have a real passion to make a difference in pupil's lives.
  • Team Teach training would be beneficial, however is not essential.
  • Have a strong classroom presence.
  • Be confident implementing effective behaviour management strategies.
  • Be pro-active, enthusiastic and flexible.
  • Be a strong communicator and be able to work as part of a team.
