Behaviour Support Assistant

Do you have experience working with vulnerable young people? Are you looking to make a difference? Are you a recent Psychology or Counselling graduate?

Our partner school in Newbury are currently looking to recruit Teaching Assistants for September to support in their provision. The school is a specialist provision which supports children who have Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs which can range from moderate to severe and also those who have complex needs and Autism (ASC).

The ideal candidate will need to be flexible in regards to work, and have an understanding of supporting young people with SEMH needs. The ideal candidate will have experience working with vulnerable young people, either in a support worker setting or as a care assistant. You must have a passion for working with young people and wanting to help improve the needs and the wellbeing of young people.

 The candidate  

The ideal candidate will have an outgoing and resilient personality, and be able to work on their own initiative in regards to ensuring that health and safety procedures are met, and the welfare of the children. You will ideally have experience of working in an SEN setting, but applications will be judged on an individual basis. Knowledge of de-escalation strategies and team teach/ moving and handling training is desirable, but not essential as we can provide training through our CPD academy.

What we can provide

Teaching Personnel are education specialists with 23 years experience in the field. You will be provided with your own specialist consultant who will take care of your needs and advise you through the clearing and work process. You will have access to free safeguarding training and an online diary so you can manage your work times more efficiently. You will also have access to our CPD Academy, in which you will be able to attend training courses in order to aid your personal development in your career.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
