Behaviour Support Assistant

Job description

A school in Leyland are seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant with the ability to re-engage young people with SEMH and associated challenging behaviours.

The ideal candidate will hold a Team Teach qualification but this is not essential if you come from a behaviour support background and have experience working with challenging young people.

Team Teach is a specific qualification which teaches you how to positively manage challenging behaviour. The aim of Team Teach is to promote de-escalation strategies and to teach a range of positive handling strategies including guiding, escorting and hollistic handling techniques, appropriate for children and young people.

You will be required to work on a small group and 1:1 basis with pupils with emotional and behavioural difficulties, including those who will sometimes be challenging on a physical level. Some pupils may have Autism therefore having experience in this area or a close personal connection to Autism would be beneficial but not essential.

The school is based in Leyland and the working hours are 8:30am - 3:30pm.

Prior experience working in a PRU, secure unit, young offenders institute, working in the army or challenging environment is desirable.

The role is to start ASAP!

Please note, this school often recruits staff from Teaching Personnel on a permanent basis, therefore this could be an excellent opportunity!

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
