Specialist Support Officer – Behaviour & Autism Specialist Provision

Our Specialist SEN Branch at Teaching Personnel are working with the Local Authority’s Behaviour & Communication Difficulties team who are looking for a number of additional Specialist Support Officers in September. The Local Authority behaviour & Communication Difficulties team also provide support and staffing to the Specialist Provisions across Bridgend that include Pupil Referral Units (PRUs), SEN Schools & Special Needs Resource Bases (SNRB).  

What do you need to know about the role of a Specialist Support Officer?

You will work in collaboration with the class teacher to implement behaviour support plans & other strategies to enable all learners reach their full potential. Whether this is their academic potential or to encourage them to focus on their well-being.

Your Key Responsibilities include:

  • Being able to build strong and trusting relationships
  • Be required to work either with small groups or on a 1:1 basis
  • Being resilient and support students to persevere through difficult situations

Are you worried that you do not have specific experience in supporting learners who can display challenging behaviour & communication difficulties? Please worry no more! The Local Authority are providing support and guidance from Specialist Teachers who are employed to help. They create Support Plans that they will make sure are explained to you to give yourself the best possible opportunity to support. We look for people who have personal experience in the field of Additional Learning Needs as well as professional based experience.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
